Male Infertility
Low Sperm count
Low Sperm count is one of the main reasons for male infertility. Low sperm count also known as oligospermia is a condition where the male partner’s sperm count is lower than 15 MIllion sperms per millimeter of semen. The average count goes up to almost 75 million sperm per millimeter.
Less Sperm Motility
Sperm motility is defined as the forward progression of sperms. The normal motility is at least 25 micrometers per second. Less Sperm motility is also known as Asthenospermia. Slow Progressive motility, no motility at all are the signs of Asthenospermia. Low sperm motility might be linked to excessive smoking or continuous trauma to the pelvic area on a daily basis.
Sperm Abnormality
Low Sperm count is one of the main reasons for male infertility. Low sperm count also known as oligospermia is a condition where the male partner’s sperm count is lower than 15 MIllion sperms per millimeter of semen. Average count goes up to almost 75 million sperm per millimeter.
Varicocele
Varicocele is similar to varicose veins in the leg. The veins in the scrotum (skin covering the testes)carrying the testicles are enlarged. A varicocele can result in decreased sperm production and quality, which in some cases can lead to infertility. Varicocele can be found in 15 percent of the male population and 20 percent of adolescent males occurring in men aged between 15-20 years. Varicocele mostly affects the left scrotum. Not all varicoceles affect sperm production.
